Shanghai Disney’s official social media accounts posted on Monday a notice saying that the theme park would close until further notice. After being closed for 101 days, the park was reopened on June 1.
Disneyland Shanghai was abruptly shut down by hina’s zero-Covid policies.
According to The Hollywood Reporter the flagship Disney resort of The Walt Disney Co. closed on Monday. All guests must remain in the park until they can present a negative result.
A number of images and videos were viral, in which guests ran to the locked gates at the theme park in an attempt to escape.

After being closed for 101 consecutive days this spring during the brutal lockdown in Shanghai, the theme park was finally reopened in June.
Disney stated in a statement that “we apologize for any inconvenience caused and will offer refunds or exchanges to all guests affected during this period.” We will notify our guests once we have a date for operations to resume.
Johns Hopkins University reports that Shanghai has accumulated 97 COVID-19-related cases over the past 28 days. There have been 64,282 cases and 595 deaths. New York Post reported that there have been 178.178 cases in China and 212 deaths within the last month.
The country’s ruling Communist Party and its leader Xi Jinping indicated last month that they would not ease up on the zero-Covid strategy, calling it a people’s war against the virus.
Around 200 lockdowns across the country have been put in place in the past few days. The majority of these are affecting communities marked as high- or medium risk. Residents living in different areas will be subject to different rules depending on their risk zone.
Recently, video footage showed that thousands of migrant workers from Apple’s largest assembly facility in Zhengzhou broke free of the lockdown to escape the “zero Covid” lockdown.
