The meeting of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure was held in India, and the decision was taken.
Friday’s Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure, (RATS), of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation decided on joint measures by members countries to counter threats posed from international terrorist organizations operating from Afghanistan.
The council of RATS met in Delhi to take the decision.
All member nations, including China, were represented at the meeting by their top officials.
Dattatray Padsalgikar (India’s Deputy Nat Security Advisor) said that the meeting also agreed to hold a military exercise titled ‘Solidarity 2023’ in the next year. According to sources, the exercise will be held in China.
Padsalgikar announced that the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation member states approved joint measures to counter international terrorist organizations operating from Afghanistan.
India hosted the meeting as chair of SCORATS.
“The Council of the SCO–RATS determined to organise, conduct and coordinate a joint operation with the forces & means of the border service of the competent authorities of the SCO Member States ‘Solidarity-2023’,” the deputy NSA said.
He also stated that the meeting considered how to implement earlier decisions made by SCO-RATS.
“The work plan of SCORATS Executive Committee and the activities of the group o technical experts of the competent authority of the SCO member state, expert groups on the areas border cooperation and countering use of Internet for terrorist, seperate and extremist purposes were approved,” Padsalgikar said.
“The implementation of earlier decisions by the RATS SCO Council was reviewed,” said the deputy NSA.
He said that a decision was taken to approve regulations for the jubilee medaille ’20 years of Regional Anti-Terrorist Scheme of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation”.
The deputy NSA stated that decisions were made about organisational support and staffing for the activities of Executive Committee of RATS.
Padsalgikar reported that “an agreement was reached to host the next meeting SCO RATS Council March 2023 in Tashkent.”
