Flavio Becca’s appeal trial was over for the fourth and final time. The prosecution and defense presented their arguments as to why Flavio should be convicted or not. Flavio Becca was sentenced to two years in prison and a fine amounting to EUR250,000 by a court on March 20, 2021 for misusing company money as well as laundering money.
On the fourth day of Becca’s trial, Mrs Lorang (one of Becca’s lawyers) argued that her client would face severe consequences if he was convicted of misappropriating company funds. This will prevent him from requesting credit and will severely limit his business operations. The prosecution wants Becca sentenced for abusing public goods. The prosecution dropped the money laundering point, but they still want all watches that were involved to be seized.
In 2011, 842 watches were taken from the businessman by authorities. Becca purchased the majority of them using company funds. She claimed that they were business investments. Prosecutor Grasso said that the watches can’t be considered investments since they are no longer in their original boxes. The appeal trial verdict was due to be announced by the court on 6 July.
