As reported by PTI, at least four schools in Jaipur, Rajasthan’s capital, found themselves targeted with bomb threats via email on Monday. Responding promptly, authorities evacuated students and staff while police, aided by bomb squads and K-9 units, took swift action. This troubling incident unfolded merely 12 days after more than 150 schools in Delhi-NCR received similar threats, causing widespread concern.
Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph confirmed the threats, affirming that “Four to five schools have received bomb threats, and police personnel have been dispatched.” The threats, conveyed via email, prompted ongoing endeavors to uncover the sender’s identity.
On the previous Sunday, 20 hospitals, the Indira Gandhi International Airport, and the Northern Railways’ CPRO office in Delhi also fell victim to bomb threats via email. While threats to Delhi schools emanated from a Russian mailing service, those directed at hospitals and other sites were traced back to ‘beeble.com,’ a Europe-based mailing service, as disclosed by officials.
Explaining the method, a police officer briefed PTI that the threatening email was initially sent to one hospital and then circulated to others, all sharing identical content. The sender’s email, “courtgroup03@beeble.com,” is currently under scrutiny, with cyber experts endeavoring to trace its IP address.
The email explicitly warned of explosive devices concealed within the buildings, urging authorities to disarm them within a specified timeframe. Allegedly orchestrated by a group dubbed ‘Court,’ the message conveyed a chilling threat of violence.
Authorities suspect the email was routed through a VPN or proxy to mask the sender’s IP, complicating investigative efforts. The Delhi Police Special Cell is anticipated to commence legal proceedings and conduct a thorough investigation, as cited by a police official quoted by PTI.
