Britain announced Monday that it will impose sanctions against the “morality Police in its entirety” as well as Iran’s police commander, and the head the Basij militia which is linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The protests turned deadly on September 16, just days after the 22 year-old girl was taken into custody by Tehran’s morality officers for allegedly violating Iran’s strict dress code.
Britain announced Monday that it will impose sanctions against the “morality Police in its entirety” as well as Iran’s police commander, and the head the Basij militia which is linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Iran replied by saying that it summoned British Ambassador to Tehran later in the day. The British ambassador described the sanctions as “baseless”
The statement stated that Tehran had informed London of Tehran’s “strong protest against interfering with the internal affairs of Iran.”
Iran claims that many people were killed in protests following Amini’s murder, including 18 security personnel and hundreds of arrests at “riots”.
