British police claimed that on Monday, December 27, 2021, they were looking at a video purportedly recorded by a man who attempted to break into the castle where Queen Elizabeth II was spending Christmas. He also stated that he wanted to murder her.

The video was taken by The Suntabloid. It shows a man in dark clothing holding a crossbow and claiming he will “attempt [to assassinate Elizabeth] Queen of Royal Family”.

The suspect identified himself as an Indian Sikh seeking revenge for the massacre at Jallianwala bagh in 1919. Snapchat shared the video 24 minutes before the suspect, aged 19, was taken into custody on Christmas Day on Windsor Castle’s grounds, west London.

According to London’s Metropolitan Police, the 19 year-old was arrested for mental treatment. Officers found a crossbow during a brief security breach.

Monday’s statement by the force read: “Following the arrest of the man, detectives are assessing what is in a video.”

According to it, security processes were initiated “within seconds” of the man entering the castle grounds on Saturday at 0830 GMT.

The Queen had been spending Christmas Day in the city with Prince Charles, her eldest son and heir of the throne, Camilla.

In the video, the masked male figure claims he is seeking revenge for Jallianwala Bagh’s massacre, as it is called in India.

British troops attacked thousands of children and men in northern Amritsar with a rifle, on April 1919.
